The inspection service of BBN has deployed inspectors at entry points. There are inspectors to control products entering Burundi at the Port of Bujumbura and at the Kobero border. To ensure the protection of the interests of importers, consumers, industries and the environment, the Government of Burundi has decided to implement Pre-Shipment Verification of Conformity (PVoC) program so goods are also inspected before embarking for Burundi.

After signing of the contract with the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), the Government entrusted this mission to SGS and BBN. BBN,repository of standards in Burundi, is responsible for the implementation and administration of the program. This contract began in March 15, 2014. Thus BBN inspectors are responsible to check the documents accompanying the goods including the certificate of conformity (COC) for products covered by SGS and the quality mark for products whose origin is a country of the subregion (ECA). This activity is complemented by a visual and, if required, physical inspection of the products.
