QUALITY: Markets surveillance


Market surveillance includes monitoring of products or goods sold on the market, in the stores and supplies to ensure that these products are safe and suitable for use to protect consumers and the environment. The goods must also meet the regulations for labelling, technical documentation and quantities.

Over the year 2014, 104 cafeterias have been inspected in 9 communes of the mairie of Bujumbura. Milk samples were brought to the laboratory of BBN for analysis. It is worth noting that the addition of water, the flour or any other product in milk is a fraud which decreases the nutritional qualities of milk and a source of bacterial contamination.

The same year, 90 shops and power supplies have been inspected in 6 municipalities and the following non-conform products have been seized:
