CERTIFICATION: Quality Mark

The current low key consignment inspection/certification activities will be continued, but will not be actively expanded. Far more important is the development of mechanisms that would provide Burundi products a “passport” to travel without further testing or certification into the EAC market. The developments regarding a Single EAC Mark are therefore viewed with great expectation as the notion of a BBN Mark is unlikely to have the same effect. In addition, system certification is a field that BBN would like to get involved in.

Hence, in the next 10 years BBN plans to establish systems whereby BBN can license Burundian enterprises to utilise the EAC Single Mark as soon as possible after it has been agreed to at the regional level, but no later than months after its promulgation. This would require peer review by the Partner States.
